Good entry level Digital 8 model

Pros: Price, ease of use, format
Cons: picture quality just good, menu cumbersome
The Bottom Line:
If you're needing entry level performance in a widely accepted format to convert to VHS or DVD, this is a good choice.
My wife and I both liked using the camera. We bought it for general family use. We have owned it since June 2003.
Main reason I bought this model was price and because I could record to and play my existing Hi8 collection on this model.
Things I loved:
Size - it feels really good in my hands and the LCD screen is easy to see indoors.
Compatibility - easy to use with my Hi8 collection of tapes and hook-ups were easy to burn to VCR.
Record TV - mine would take a signal in from the same out cable (A/V in/out cable comes with camera new). I could record to it from my VCR out or DVD player.
Sound quality in preview mode I was impressed with for such an inexpensive camera.
Outdoors this really shines - nice crisp colors!
Things I did not love:
Picture quality was average to good indoors. Graininess really shows up in low light shots.
I shot a series indoors in flourescent lighting - not the best.
Menu options don't have memory. If I set a fade sequence - it did not stay on the camera - I had to program it each time. Kind of a pain with small button on the side.
