Great Digital Camcorder

Pros: Small and lots of features
Cons: No External battery charger included.
I did a lot of research and checked out a lot of camcorders on-line and in the stores. I was interested in the Sony cam because I have a sony digital camera and a friend has a Sony camcorder(not digital). They have been sturdy and reliable. I find the same to be true of the TRV20 digital camcorder.
I also wanted a camera I could hook up to my computer and edit the video. I wanted the ILink port to hook up to a firewire port on my PC. This camera lets me do that. I can now edit together movies I take at family get togethers and vacations, or just do something fun. You can also choose scenes from what you've recorded and have the camera hook up to your VCR and it will record just the scenes you choose onto your VCR.
The viewscreen is big at 3.5". Another plus for me. The battery is small and lasts a decent amount of time (about 2 hours). Unless you spend another 120-150 on an external battery charger you must charge the battery while it is in the camera.
There are quite a number of effects you can use. Included on the memory stick are pictures that allow you to overlay a picture (such as a frame) over the video. You can also apply different wipes and transitions between shots. Other effects are available, such as creating a "trail" while filming, nightshot which lets you see (in a greenish hue) in total darkness.
You can also take still photographs onto a memory stick. This is great for the times I do not have my still camera with me or I want to take a still photo of something on the tape. While the quality of the stills are not perfect, it is very nice to have.
The video quality is excellent. Very sharp and clear. The camera has ports on it so you can hook it up to your video inputs on your tv or vcr. The remote control lets you sit back and play the tape without using the camcorder.
The viewfinder is color as well, which is nice when you do not want to use the viewscreen.
The camera feels solid and built well. I'm very happy with my choice.
