Pros: compact size, lower price
Cons: broken after 1 year. short battery life.
The Bottom Line:
Buy a higher end unit and save yourself a lot of problems.
Just after the year warranty was up, mine would only record at a slow-motion pace. Sort of like the opposite of Benny Hill. It will cost more to fix than to replace. I am very dissatisfied with Sony customer service. This unit had no more than maybe 8 hours of recording time before it broke. Also, the battery does not run the machine for more than 25 minutes, even without the LCD screen on. They have a reputation for excellent products, but not this time for me. I have had better success with Panasonic, Sharp and even Sanyo electronic products. My other camcorder purchase many years ago was also a Sony that was very temperamental, and I should not have bought another, but was convinced by the salesperson that this unit was much improved and the best for the money. I am most interested in durability, so I am very disappointed in this product
