My second 8mm video camera

Pros: 8mm, features such as steady-shot and nightshot, sound through LCD, LCD screen, and remote control, and price
Cons: could be a bit smaller; boxy looking.
After reading Consumer Reports reviews on video cameras, I felt confident in placing my trust in their recommendation of this video camera. Sure, they recommended a number of video cameras, some digital, others analog, and covering a vast price range. However, I settled on the SONY CCD-TRV57 after I realized that a digital camera did not fit my needs, and because of its name and format. I trust Sony. I had one of their video cameras, which was bought in 1990, for ten years (just died on me recently). Never had a problem with it. So, aside from their outstanding recognition for electronics products, I chose a Sony based on a positive first-hand experience with one of the camcorders. And why 8mm? Again, because my last one was an 8mm, I have many 8mm tapes that are still usable, and because I was pleased with the quality. I have read reviews comparing digital and analog quality (8mm), and they do state that there is a difference (with digital's exceeding quality), but I felt secure choosing an 8mm with the same quality which I have been familiar with all along. And I never found the quality of an 8mm picture to be inferior. The slight jump in quality of the digital, to me, did not justify the excessive price jump over the 8mm. And I got a great deal for this camera -only $412. total price, including shipping (but I would not recommend the store I got it from, as customer service was something left to be desired). (Look at CNET.com to compare prices, where I found my store).
Am I happy with my purchase? You bet. Not only does it come with an LCD SCREEN(my old one didn't have this) (which INCLUDES SOUND during playback), but it has extra feature such as STEADY-SHOT (reduces unsteady, shaking of picture), as well as NIGHTSHOT, which allows the shooter to film in low light.
HOOKING UP the camera to the tv (or through VCR) is very simple. I had reviewed my videos within seconds. Also, it comes with a REMOTE CONTROL(unlike my old Sony). Now I don't have to sit in front of the video camera, next to the tv, as I present my video pictures to friends and family.
