Pros: affordable and easy to use
Cons: Model lacks LCD monitor
I recently purchased this Sony CCD-TR416 as a belated Christmas present after my JVC VHS-C camcorder would no longer operate. I felt that this model offered all the features and quality for the money. Although 8MM lacks the convenience of VHS-C, as with playback, the sound and picture quality far exceeds any footage I have recorded in the past. This particular model offers a color viewfinder, although it lacks a LCD monitor.Optional battery is recommended for extended recording, however supplied battery is enough for casual filming.
As a new parent, this model is compact and convenient for all of those "good thing I had the camcorder around", days when my son does something too precious to ignore. I like the one-touch standby record feature and if you ever want to film your child when they are sleeping, the Nightshot 0LUX feature is awesome!
I would highly recommend this model to anyone that is interested in a good camcorder with great picture/sound quality, ease of use, and doesn't want to spend a fortune.
