This particular model has a lot of options that will impress you without even seeing the video yet. The video speaks for it self with high quality and the still shot option; it leaves the entire family happy with the final result. This particular camera doesn't have a flip out screen but can be easily hooked up to your TV for easy viewing. You are also able to record while it is hooked up to your TV.

The battery life for this camera using a standard battery that comes with it will last about 2 hours if constantly filming or 1 hour an 1/2 if constantly shutting off and turning it back on. Turning it on and off uses a considerable amount of battery and will result in less time you can use it. My advice is to purchase a Lithium battery with about four or eight hours of use on it, these batteries actually last as long as they say. They are a considerable amount more but you will be happy with the extra time of filming allowed.

This particular camera has about five different filming lens options available. One is the steady shot option that allows you to walk while filming without getting a great shot. The second is the built in back light for filming that doesn't have the optimal lighting that it should. The third is a wonderful option that permits you to focus on something that is behind a fence with out getting the fence in the shot. This option is wonderful if at the zoo or similar situation.

These are the examples of the options that are given on this camera but there are even more great options but it is better if you see for your self. The best thing to do to see all the great options on this camera is to go to an electronic store and ask to view this camera then you will be able to see first hand how great it is for it's price.

This particular model does take an 8M tape and this kind of tape can not be viewed in a regular VCR. My advice is to either purchase a VCR tape that takes 8M tapes and to view them this way or just to hook your camera up to the TV for viewing.

Besides all the great options and quality on this camera it is also very compact and lightweight. No more massive cameras that take up a lot of room or that weigh your arm down form carrying it. This camera weights about the same as a regular camera and with its great quality and options you can't find a better camera for its price range.

I highly recommend this camera and personally use it myself. I don't think any person will be disappointed if they decide to purchase this camera for the filming of their family and their memories. Sony is also a great company that has always made great products and truly did a great job on this camera.

This camera is also very durable with me having a three year old this was also a quality that the camera had to have. I purchased this camera a little over a year ago and still have had no problems. Just to mention my son got a hold of it and let's just say the camera was still in one piece after my son dropped it while carrying it to the car. This is truly a durable camera and great if you have kids.
