Easy to use Handycam

Pros: small, very easy to use
Cons: Battery life is nothing to write home about.
We've had this camera for a little over two years. The actual model number for the one I have is CCD-TR66, but it isn't listed (I imagine that it's because they have come up with newer, better ones since) and this one is the closest comparison to the one that I have.
Sony's Handycams are extremely easy to use and have a lot of options that are equally easy to use. It is small in size and very lightweight. The battery that comes with it doesn't offer an extremely long record time, I'd put it at about an hour +/-. The battery charger does, however, have a plug-in that allows you to record using electricity, rather than battery power. It also comes with a battery pack that you can use with 8 AA batteries. One of the nicest features, in my opinion, is the 8mm tape. This allows for the small size of the camera and also makes it so that to record onto a "regular" VHS tape, you just plug the camera into your VCR and tape away. The 8mm tapes have quite a bit of space on them, allowing you to be able to tape for extended periods (provided you have a spare battery) without worrying about running out of tape. It has a color viewfinder, digital zoom, date/time stamp, and various title stamps. There are four lighting settings allowing for taping in various settings. The microphone provides very nice sound, unlike some older cameras on the market.
Although I don't use this camera nearly as much as I should, I haven't had much previous camcorder experience and I am quite capable of using this one. It's a great camera at a reasonable price & I would recommend any of the Sony Handycams to someone looking to purchase a camcorder.
