I rented this game, Simpsons Hit & Run, because my 6 year old son and I love GameCube and Simpsons. We hoped it wouldn't be a rip-off game, like so many are, where the characters in the game aren't narrated by the real actors, and the gameplay is loosely based on the show.

I was amazed at what a great game this was. First of all, the basic premise is you have to complete missions by driving your car around Springfield. You start the game as Homer, and after a super helpful tutorial by Bart's character, you can drive from the Simpson's house to a variety of places around town.

The detail is amazing. Almost everywhere you can picture in the show, from Town hall, to The Ardroid's Dungeon Card shop. The Squidport and Casino are there, Cletus' farm, a tomacco patch, just to name a few.

You complete missions, most timed, to advance through the levels, where you play as Marge, Bart and Lisa.Some are car chases. Loose your opponent, and the race is over. Others you need to drive to specific locations to pick up items, like one where Principal Skinner needs to run errands.

You can earn new cars by collecting coins found scattered around the level, and occasionally earning one in a race. You get some "classic" cars to start with, like Homer's pink convertable, Marge's Canyonero, Lisa's Malibu Stacey Car. And you can earn cool vehicles like Otto's schoolbus, Groundskeeper Willie's tractor, Krusty's clown limo and more.

One of the most fun parts is just driving around exploring. You can also ram you can into other cars, pedestrians, trees. You damage it, but can easily fix it with a wrench, found through out the levels. There's a meter, and if you do too much illegal stuff, the cops come and "bust" you (take 10 coins, big whoopie) But if you keep it cool, you can get out of your car, beat someone up, and jump back in & ride away. Way cool.

The game was addicting, we didn't want to put it down, and we've already ordered it online, and are waiting for it to come now :)

I don't have one bad word for this game. The graphics are the best I've been yet on GameCube, and the voices are real. The scenarios are fun. I suggest all players, young and old will love this game.
