A good deal considering the price.

Pros: Cool looking design, great image quality, light and quiet.
Cons: No protection for the LCD, limited optical zoom.
The Bottom Line:
If you are budget conscious like I am this is the camera for you.
I was waiting to get a mini DV camera that would work with my limited budget, and the Sharp Viewcam fit the bill. I paid $299.00 at Walmart and I believe I got a great camera at this price. I used the camera for the first time at my sisters wedding in very low light situations and I was really surprised at the quality of the images when I edited the tape on my computer. The menu is a little annoying in that you have to scroll with a little pad on the back through sub-menues which arent always easy to find on the fly, however for the price this really isnt a big issue. The 3.5" LCD is wonderful for seeing exactly what your filming, but I can say that where the LCD is located by the end of the day it was covered with fingerprints, but if carefully handled the LCD can be cleaned as I do following every use. I found the battery life to be acceptable I recorded in SP mode for over 85 minutes and the battery was still 25% charged. The sound quality was impressive as well. Overall I got more than I expected out of this little camera. The only thing I was slightly displeased about was the lack of an IEEE 1394 cable , but again look at the price.
