I was in the market for a compact, anybody can use, camcorder that wouldn't take up too much space. I needed something to record my barrel racing which occurs in any number of lighting conditions. I chose to by the Sharp Viewcam. The picture quality of this little camera is awesome, but when zooming out to the extent of the camera's ability, left the picture too shaky. This made image stabilization a must. The sound was decent, if you weren't outdoors and there was a wind. I did like the swivel lens and the big LCD screen. This made it easy for my mom to do the filming or even my 7 year old son.
The major turn off about this camera, which has turned me off from sharp products all-together is the longevity. The backlite in the screen went out, which I thought would be easy to fix. Nope. I found out that the part cost $300. For $29 more, I could by the newest viewcam. I have learned to never by a camera without the product warranties for parts and labor. This camera should have lasted more than two years with the careful use it had been given. I am extremely disgusted by this product.
