Low price and high quality in an easy-to-use package: that's the Sharp VL-E680U Viewcam. This is a perfect 8mm camera for the beginner, someone on a tight budget, or if you plan only limited use. With all the controls located on the back, operating the camera is intuitive. The VL-E680U is well made and ergonomic in its construction, and the battery will deliver up to 95 minutes continuous recording. Images from the 16X optical zoom/64X digital zoom are sharp when viewed in the bright, generously proportioned three-inch color LCD screen, which is one of the camera's best features. The LCD screen is specially designed to resist fingerprints. It is coated with a low-reflectivity resin to reduce glare outdoors on sunny days when the brightness causes the LCD to fade slightly. ??The camera produces crystal-clear colorful images, and the freeze frame is crisp. The D.I.S. (Digital Image Stabilization) circuit senses movement of the user holding the camera and helps to reduce image shake and jitter, delivering a m... Minimize

It's only my opinion.....

Pros: Battery Life

Cons: LCD screen, type of camera

Author's Review
We received this Sharp model camcorder as a prize at a casino night thrown by my husband's employer. So, begger's can not be choosers.

The camera itself is easy to operate and the battery life is pretty good. The 8MP tapes are inexpensive and it came with a remote and all the cables for hooking it up to a TV. What I do not care for is the finished product when watched on a TV. The quality of the taped material. The picture is grainy, not super clear. I have tried several different brands of tapes in the camera, taped in every type of lighting possible and messed with all the features so I know that is not the problem and we have a fantastic TV, as do my parents, where we have also watched the tapes.

The other thing I do not care for is the type of camera it is. It has a LCD screen that you view to see what you are taping as opposed to a eyepiece. I cannot get used to it. If you do not look at the screen at a perfect angle everything looks shadowed or just plain spooky!

My parents have a inexpensive Sony camera, with a eyepiece type viewer and it beats the heck out of this SHARP model. So does the quality of the finished product.

If I were to buy a camera with my own money I would not have picked this type. Some people may like that but in my opinion, I do not.

Again, it was free so I am grateful but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
It is not the most inexpensive unit on the market for that quality.
