The Sharp Aquos 26" LCD screen may seem a bit small for some but after doing a lot of research I decided to go with it and thought that it would be a perfect size for my living room. When it comes to these screens, the price tends to go up exponentially, the larger the screen. The difference between a 26" and a 30" LCD is about $1000. Difference between 30" and 34" is another $1000, and so forth so I decided that since these things depreceate so quickly that this would be the ideal screen. Also, because of the 16:9 ratio and the built-in speakers on each side, the screen actually measures over 32" lengthwise, which was an ideal size for a table/stand that I already had. Finally, I asked the LCD/Plasma experts on the www.avsforum.com site and I got a unanimous reply that I can not go wrong with a Sharp Aquos screen.

I ordered the screen from bestbuypcs.com and received it the next day. It was very easy/smooth to configure the screen. The speakers were already attached so I just had to attach the power cord and connect the TV to the cable box. One thing to note is that this television has an extensive control panel in the back which allows you to connect pretty much anything to it, including a VGA connector, RCA, S-video, Composite video, and so forth. Every conceivable audio-visual input type is supported.

So once I connected everything I finally turned the unit on. The picture quality was amazing. Very sharp and bright colors. Also, the picture is bright from any angle so you don't have to be facing the screen directly. Also, the audio system on the TV is very good as well. I was worried that it wouldn't do but it exceeded my expectations.

I have not tried to watch HDTV on the TV yet but I know that it supports it, I would just need to order HDTV from AOL/TimeWarner which I am not sure if I am ready to do. I did try to watch a DVD on the TV and again, the crispness of the picture exceeded all my expectations. It was like having an oversized computer monitor, which is pretty much what this thing is.

One downside that I found with the TV is that the base for it is not a swivel base so it's not easy to rotate it around.

In conclusion, I am impressed with this TV and believe that I got it at a very competitive price of $1090. As I already said, 26" may be on the small size for some people but for a small Manhattan apartment it works just great, and is aesthetically pleasing.
