Kindhearted lawyer Glenda's (Goldie Hawn) desire to lend a helping hand is evident in the number of stray dogs she has taken in. Her husband Ira (Charles Grodin) is a stuffy district attorney with designs on political office. When her ex-husband Nick (Chevy Chase), a writer who has been forced to rob a bank, shows up on her doorstep seeking refuge from the authorities, she takes him in--spurring a serious of painfully comedic situations as she attempts to keep him hidden from uptight Ira. Razor sharp timing from a trio of comedic heavyweights propels this descendent of 1930s screwball romantic comedies from Neil Simon.

Pros: goldie hawn at her most likeable, dogs
Cons: none
This is one of my favorite Goldie Hawn movies. Goldie plays a public defender whose ex- husband causes great problems for her. Err, maybe I should say more problems for her.
Goldie has a soft spot for all the clients she represents. If she does not personally hire them herself (as chauffeur, gardener, etc.), she finds them jobs because that is usually part of the deal she has made with the judge -that in order to keep them out of jail, her "clients" be gainfully employed. Her good-heartedness also includes a household of stray dogs - 7 I believe I counted, of all sizes..
Her ex-husband is played by Chevy Chase, who through a series of "oopses" (he gets kidnapped, there is a case of mistaken identity, etc.), he ends up hiding out at her house.
Goldie has a great chemistry with all those around her - her ex-husband Nick, her current husband Ira (Charles Grodin), her chauffeur Chester (T.K. Carter), even her spanish-speaking maid Aurora. Aurora's head is constantly spinning what with all the people coming and going and all the dogs.
The funniest scenes are when Goldie and the dogs are on screen. (I'm a dog nut, what can I say.) Not only is this my favorite Goldie Hawn movie, but Charles Grodin does an excellent job playing her husband - who's also an attorney.
Goldie and Grodin are hosting a dinner party one night for a group of political friends, ones that could have a great impact on Grodin's career. Grodin doesn't know that Goldie's fugitive ex- husband is in the garage/guesthouse. Couple this with the dogs, the maid and even the chauffeur who plays butler occasionally, and this is a recipe (ha, ha) for disaster.
Goldie ends up representing Chase (naturally) and the ending scene where Aurora brings all the dogs to court is hilarious - picture yourself trying to herd 7 dogs anywhere and you'll understand what I mean.
No swear words that I noticed, no nudity, no violence. This is a movie the whole family can watch.
