Pros: Nice unit when it functioned.
Cons: This $500 unit malfunctioned and parts are no longer available. Be careful buying Samsung products.
I purchased this product for $500 in April 2004 per recommendation from the salesman at Tweeters so I could receive digital signals on a plasma TV I purchased at the same time. The set top box was not used much, but we loved it until it froze on channel 9-2 in August 2006. Samsung said parts are no longer available so the unit cannot be repaired. Samsung initially suggested they may be able to offer a partial refund but after calling several times for two weeks, I was finally told they decided against any type of refund or credit. Buyer beware on this product, or perhaps any Samsung product, as it appears they stock replacement parts for a very limited time. This is the first piece of electronic equipment I've purchased that did not last for many years, so this was a major disappointment, especially given the cost. It was even more disappointing when I was told the unit could not even be repaired, although it was less than 2-1/2 years old.
