Samsung DVD-R4000 DVD RecorderDVD-RAM is definitely the runt of the recordable DVD litter, but maybe it'll get a boost from Samsung's new recorder. This deck is a virtual clone of Panasonic's DMR-E50, with progressive-scan video playback and a Time Slip function that imitates TiVo's ability to pause live TV.\n

Panasonic Clone

Pros: Works as well as expected. A fine product. Priced competitively.
Cons: Doesn't have a hard disc.
I believe that this DVD player/recorder is a clone of the Panasonic DMR-E50. All specifications listed are exactly the same. Samsung, when called, indicated that the R4000 was originally tested using panasonic discs. When an attempt is made to program remote controls of connecting devices (TV's, VCR's), they do not react to the Samsung code, but WILL operate with the Panasonic code.
Read the Epinions of the Panasonic DMR-E50. They are the Epinions of the DVD-R4000 as well.
By the way, it's a fine machine.
