superb HD DVD picture

Pros: Converts DVD video to HD 1080i; DVI output; optical audio
Cons: remote unit; blue light on jog dial does not dim
Bought this DVD player at Best Buy to use with my new Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV (TH42PX20UP). This TV uses the HDMI connector (no DVI connector)for 1080i HD input. Acquired a DVI to HDMI cable online for $60. After setting the DVD player for 1080i output (green light on DVI button) and connected the DVI to HDMI cable from the HD-931 DVD player to the Panasonic TV, the TV picture was superb (I had none of the video problems other reviewers have reported). For audio, I used an optical audio cable for connection to my ONKYO receiver and received unbelievable sound. The only negatives are the remote control unit and the blue light on the jog dial does not dim. I solved these concerns by using my Panasonic TV remote to operate this DVD player and I covered the jog dial light.
