Pros: Good graphics, more match types, extended create a wrestler mode.
Cons: Boring and very limited season mode.
The Bottom Line:
Buy if you like good graphics, dont buy if you like a good storyline.
Whether or not someone will like this game is entirely dependent on what one values in a game. On the plus side, The graphics in the game are amazing, even better than smackdown vs. raw 2007. All the wrestlers are really detailed down to their bulging biceps and their clothes dont look like they were painted on. The number and type of matches that can be played has been expanded and the create a wrestler is as big as ever (a category that has never failed to impress me).
However, there are a few crucial weaknesses to this game. The first and most important is that season mode gets insanely boring after playing it for the third or fourth time. Unlike its predeccesors, smackdown vs. raw 2007 follows a very linear, predictable path in season mode that only lets you play for one year. Every season starts out with the exact same storyline with few exceptions. Also, the game does not let you play as any character in the game for season mode (unlike the older versions. Furthermore, the rosters for the wrestlers are very weird. A wrestler may be shown to be with smackdown in exhibition mode but will be with raw in season mode. Finally, some of the costumes of the wrestlers are somewhat outdated and almost no wrestler's costume can be changed. For example, batista has the same underwear tights he wore when he first joined evolution and not the brightly colored tights with the giant "B" on the back he wore right after he split with evolution (which is where the game takes place chronologically).
Like ive been saying, if you are only into graphics, match types, and create a wrestler, then this game is for you. However if you value anything else like a diverse sotryline in season mode, chronologically accurate wrestlers, and the ability to play as anyone in season mode, i would advise to rent the game first.
