Prednisone 20 mg, 500 Tablets Prednisone is used in the treatment of many disease processes including adrenal insufficiency, arthritis, lupus, allergies, asthma, dermatitis, blood and skin disorders. Prednisone 20 mg, 500 Tablets Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid used for many conditions. Its anti-inflammatory activity is approximately four times that of hydrocortisone. Corticosteroids are extremely effective anti-inflammatory drugs because they affect the inflammatory process at so many different levels. Prednisone is rapidly converted to prednisolone in the liver and in most instances, these drugs are considered to be roughly equivalent. Prednisone may be given by injection, orally or topically. Dogs and Cats: Prednisone is used for a wide variety of conditions in both dogs and cats. It may be used in emergency situations including, anaphylactic reactions, spinal chord trauma, and many forms of shock. It is used in the management and treatment of immune mediated disease such as immune mediated hemolytic anemia, or thombocytopenia: many CNS disorders: some neoplasia: dermatologic diseases: allergic reactions such as asthma, hives, and itching: inflammatory orthopedic diseases: endocrine disorders including Addison's: respiratory disease with an inflammatory component, inflammatory bowel diseases and many other conditions. Cats may require higher doses than dogs in order to achieve clinical response, but they are less likely to develop adverse side effects. Horses: Prednisone is given systemically to decrease inflammatory and immune responses. For years it was used orally to treat Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and other allergic or immune-mediated disorders. Recent studies show that horses do not absorb oral prednisone, but they do absorb oral prednisolone. Other corticosteroids are preferred for intra-articular use. Side Effects: Systemic side effects to corticosteroids are generally dependent on dose and duration of treatment. Short-term use of prednisone is unlikely to cause adverse effects. Adverse effects are more common in animals on immunosuppressive doses. Side effects seen in dogs include polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, poor haircoat, GI disturbance, diarrhea, vomiting, weight gain, GI ulceration, pancreatitis, lipidemia, elevated liver enzymes, diabetes mellitus, muscle wasting, and possible behavioral changes. Polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia may be seen in dogs even on short-term therapy. Although cats are less likely to develop side effects than dogs, occasionally polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, weight gain, GI disturbances and behavioral changes occur. Corticosteroids can cause or worsen gastric ulcers. Precautions: Chronic or inappropriate use of corticosteroids can cause life threatening hormonal and metabolic changes. Adverse effects due to corticosteroid treatment usually occur with long-term administration of the drug, especially when high doses are used. Alternate day therapy with short acting preparations is preferred. Animals who have received long-term therapy should be withdrawn slowly by tapering the dosage and prolonging the interval between doses. Corticosteroids suppress immune response. Animals receiving systemic corticosteroids may be more susceptible to bacterial or viral infections. Systemic corticosteroids can mask signs of infection, such as an elevated temperature. Systemic corticosteroids are contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections. (The treatment of Addison's disease may be considered an exception.) Animals in hepatic failure should receive prednisolone rather than prednisone. Corticosteroids should be avoided or used very carefully in young animals both because of immune suppression and the risk of GI ulcers. Corticosteroids have been implicated as a cause of laminitis in horses and ponies. Corticosteroids should be avoided during

The genus Candida comprise about 154 species of which six most commonly inhabit the skin and mucous membranes as members of normal flora. Candida albicans represents the most abundant opportunistic strain while Candida tropicalis, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis and Candida lusitaniae may also mount infection under opportunistic conditions. Predisposing factors that may set up such conditions include trauma (infection), surgery, underlying disease (diabetes mellitus, Addisons disease), medications (corticosteroids, antibiotics, oral contraceptives), immunodeficiency, pregnancy, age (elderly, infancy), and malnutrition. Generally, fungal infections due to overgrowth of Candida are referred to as Candidiasis of which cover a broad range of clinical signs and symptoms encompassing superficial, local and deep-seated infections. VRPs Candida Antibodies and Antigen Panel is a semi-quantitative analysis of serum Candida antigen, in addition to IgM, IgG, and IgA antibodies specific for Candia spp. IgM is the first antibody formed after primary exposure to antigen, and reflects a present infection. IgM readily activates complement, and assists the phagocytic system to eliminate antigen from the intravascular space. IgG is the predominant antibody formed from secondary exposure to antigen, and reflects a past or ongoing infection. It is produced as IgM antibody levels decrease after primary exposure. IgG activates complement, and assists the phagocytic system to eliminate antigen from the extravascular space. IgA is found in mucous secretions and is important in local (mucosal) immunity. Elevated IgA antibodies may reflect a more superficial Candida infection. The kit includes all collection materials and the means to ship the specimen to the lab free of charge. Results are provided within 10-14 days from the time the test was received at the lab. This is a simple finger-prick blood spot test.THIS TEST DOES NOT CONSTITUTE medical advice. Proanthozone 50 mg for Large Dogs, 120 Capsules Proantho
... Read more
Proanthozone 50 mg for Large Dogs, 120 Capsules Proanthozone 50 mg for Large Dogs, 120 Capsules is a potent antioxidant for cats and dogs for conditions linked to oxidative stress: compromised immune system, liver & kidney disease, skin disease, pancreatic & G.I. disorders, cardiovascular disorders and degenerative joint disease. Proanthozone 50 For Large Dogs Dog Nutritional Antioxidant Supplements Proanthozone is a potent, bioflavanol-based antioxidant formula for adult dogs and cats and is indicated for the nutritional management of conditions linked to oxidative stress, such as liver/kidney disease, skin disease, pancreatic and G.I. disorders, cardiovascular disorders and degenerative joint disease (DJD). Also useful as a nutritional support for compromised immune function. Effects of Oxidative Stress on Pets: Free radicals are unstable molecules produced during normal biological processes such as breathing and the digestion of food. Free radicals are also the result of environmental factors including injury or infection. Once active, the free radical strips electrons from the molecules in many body tissues and cells causing oxidative stress. Free radical or oxidative damage has been linked to age related diseases including arthritis, cancer, kidney/liver disorders, immune system dysfunction and heart disease. In fact, aging itself is thought to be due in large part to oxidative disease and its influence over cellular health. Antioxidants grab the highly reactive free radical and either remove it, neutralize it or pass the radical on to another antioxidant. Often, through a cascade of different enzymes, a free radical will pass through the body until it emerges as a harmless substance. Certain nutrients, such as bioflavanol, have the ability to neutralize or quench free radicals. When to give Proanthozone: Bioflavanol is useful as a nutritional support for a variety of conditions. Because oxidative stress affects so many of the body's systems, Proanthozone can be applied in a number of ways. Proanthozone is best used in the form of immune system support. By optimizing immune responses, Proanthozone may protect against many diseases and degenerative conditions, such as skin problems, cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, dental disease, and cataracts. A strong immune system is especially important for older pets. Bioflavanol helps control allergies. Bioflavanol inhibits enzymes that promote histamine release, inflammation, and allergic reactions. This action makes Proanthozone useful for managing allergies and asthma. Bioflavanol helps protect the kidneys & liver from free radical damage . The kidneys and liver are very susceptible to oxidative damage and Proanthozone's powerful antioxidants help protect these vital organs. Bioflavanol is a chondroprotective agent. Bioflavanol protects joint tissues from destructive enzymes released during oxidative stress, such as at the site of an injury. Joint cartilage is mainly composed of collagen, and bioflavanol also helps strengthen these collagen fibers when they are damaged. Veterinarians can use Proanthozone as nutritional support for animals with: Cataracts Skin problems - Anti-histamine effect Cardiovascular disease Surgical incisions or wounds Immune-mediated disease Diabetes/Diabetic retinopathy Kidney disease Pancreatitis Liver disease Dental disease Cancer Vascular problems There are many disorders that can benefit from antioxidants. Studies have shown that oxidative damage to nerves can result in mental deterioration, oxidative damage to joint tissue can result in gait disturbances, and oxidative damage to cardiac tissues can result in cardiac arrhythmia or heart attack. Research has also shown that renal, hepatic, pulmonary, cardiovascular, neurological and ocular diseases can be slowed or prevented with

Fresh Face CollagenA Synergistic Blend of Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C & Targeted Amino Acids.Available in Nutritional Powder 1 lb. Price: $49.95Directions: Blend, Shake or Mix vigorously 1 scoop into 6-12oz. of cold juice (50/50 water, juice), water, smoothie or shake. Take once daily. For Therapeutic use, take twice daily.Fresh Face Collagen is not a cream, lotion, injection or laser treatment. It is a synergistic blend of Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and Targeted Amino Acids that you add to your favorite beverage. As the body begins to age, less collagen is produced. Collagen is an essential molecule naturally produced by the body. Collagen is one of the most plentiful proteins present in the body with 70% of connective tissue comprised of collagen. The collagen levels in the body affect the skin, bones, muscles, cartilage and tendons. With the aging process, the body produces less collagen naturally. The skin takes on an aged thinning look, creating folds or fine-line wrinkles in the skins tissue. Hair begins to thin out decreasing the overall volume and thickness. Bones become more brittle and susceptible to diseases from collagen deficiencies.Collagen is the major fibrous protein in the human body and is the most abundant protein in nature. Collagen attributes about 30% of the total human body protein. This fibrous protein connects and supports tissues in the body including skin, bone, muscles, tendons, cartilage and organs.Collagen possesses great tensile strength and works differently than other type of protein the body naturally produces. Collagen strengthens blood vessels, tissue development and is present in the cornea and lens of the eye. Collagen fibers also contribute to the outside and inside structure of some cells as well.As the body begins to age less Collagen is produced naturally by the body. Wrinkles begin to set in and the skin becomes thinner. The body receives less support of the tissues making the body weaker and more susceptible to disease, decreasing bone mass and weakening of the entire human body.Studies have shown by increasing the protein levels of Collagen in the body the aging process will slow down. Tissue support will increase providing health benefits to all joints and organs of the body. Skin will become firmer with less visible wrinkles. Hair will become thicker, fuller and nails will grow stronger.Fresh Face contains the essential building materials needed for skin, nails, hair and cartilage repair. In fact, a once a day regimen of Fresh Face actually changes the blood plasma profile naturally to signal the body to create more collagen. With more collagen being constructed by the body, skin becomes firmer and younger while decreasing the fine-line wrinkles. Nails will grow faster and maintain strength; hair will grow faster thus developing, healthier and fuller hair.Fresh Face also promotes joint health by nourishing ligaments, tendons and surrounding connective tissue.Ingredients: Collagen Hydrolysate Type 1, L-Glutamine, L-Glycine, L-Lysine, Ascorbic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Grapeseed Extract.

PrednisTab [Prednisolone] 20 mg, 500 Tablets Used in the treatment of many disease processes including adrenal insufficiency, arthritis, lupus, allergies, asthma, dermatitis, blood and skin disorders. PREDNISTAB ® For Oral Use in Dogs Only NADA # 140-921, Approved by FDA CAUTION: Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. DESCRIPTION: Prednisolone, like methylprednisolone, is a potent anti-inflammatory steroid. Prednisolone, 11,17,21-trihydroxypregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione, is a synthetic dehydrogenated analogue of cortisone. Prednisolone and methylprednisolone have a greater anti-inflammatory potency and less tendency to induce sodium and water retention than the older corticoids, cortisone and hydrocortisone. The relative anti-inflammatory potency for hydrocortisone is 1.0; cortisone is 0.8; prednisolone is 4 and methylprednisolone is 5. The relative sodium retaining potency for hydrocortisone is 4; prednisolone is 3 and methylprednisolone is 2. 1,2 INDICATIONS: PrednisTab is intended for oral use in dogs. The indications for PrednisTab are the same as those for other anti-inflammatory steroids and comprise the various collagen, dermal, allergic, ocular, otic, and musculoskeletal conditions known to be responsive to the anti-inflammatory corticosteroids. Representative of the conditions in which the use of steroid therapy and the benefits to be derived therefrom have had repeated confirmation in the veterinary literature are: (1) dermal conditions, such as nonspecific eczema, summer dermatitis, and burns; (2 allergic manifestations, such as acute urticaria, allergic dermatitis, drug and serum reactions, bronchial asthma, and pollen sensitivities; (3) ocular conditions, such as iritis, iridocyclitis, secondary glaucoma, uveitis, and chorioretinitis; (4) otic conditions, such as otitis externa; (5) musculoskeletal conditions, such as myositis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and bursitis; (6) various chronic or recurrent diseases of unknown etiology such as ulcerative colitis and nephrosis. In acute adrenal insufficiency, prednisolone may be effective because of its ability to correct the defect in carbohydrate metabolism and relieve the impaired diuretic response to water, characteristic of primary or secondary adrenal insufficiency. However, because this agent lacks significant mineralocorticoid activity, hydrocortisone sodium succinate, hydrocortisone, or cortisone should be used when salt retention is indicated. CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not use in viral infections. Prednisolone, like methylprednisolone, is contraindicated in animals with peptic ulcer, corneal ulcer, and Cushingoid syndrome. The presence of diabetes, osteoporosis, predisposition to thrombophlebitis, hypertension, congestive heart failure, renal insufficiency, and active tuberculosis necessitates carefully controlled use. Some of the above conditions occur only rarely in dogs, but should be kept in mind. CAUTION: Because of its inhibitory effect on fibroplasia, prednisolone may mask the signs of infection and enhance dissemination of the infecting organism. Hence, all animal patients receiving prednisolone should be watched for any evidence of intercurrent infection. Should infection occur, it must be brought under control by use of appropriate antibacterial measures, or administration of prednisolone should be discontinued. Warning: Not for human use. Clinical and experimental data have demonstrated that corticosteroids administered orally or by injection to animals may induce the first stage of parturition if used during the last trimester of pregnancy and may precipitate premature parturition followed by dystocia, fetal death, retained placenta, and metritis. Additionally, corticosteroids administered to dogs, rabbits, and rodents during pregnancy have resulted in cleft palate in offspring. Corticosteroids administered to dogs during pregnancy have also resulted in other c

Derma Mag is a revolutionary new product that has customers raving from coast to coast. Why? Because DermaMag get magnesium into the body, where oral magnesium supplement fail. Magnesium: The Next Big NutrientCalcium get all the attention, but many doctors and researchers now believe that magnesium is the single most important mineral in our bodies. Studies show an alarming 80% of America is magnesium deficient. The result: many of today's modern ailments are linked to magnesium deficiency including: Insomnia, Migraines, Fatigue, Heart Disease, Osteoporosis, and the list goes on. DermaMag solves the problems that riddle most magnesium supplements available today: poor absorption, abdominal upset and diarrhea. Why DermaMag is Better? To make DermaMag, we started with the world's finest grade of natural magnesium chloride (the ancient underground Zechstein Sea deposits in Europe) and created a proprietary formula that dramatically improves the transdermal magnesium absorption while minimizing skin discomfort. The result is a 100% natural, ultra-pure magnesium lotion supplement that far surpasses any other type of magnesium supplement available today.

This book results from requests from rabbit owners and veterinarians who were seeking reliable, up to date information about skin diseases and their treatment. Material related to rabbits is, indeed, not readily available, or limited to a chapter in rabbit medicine or veterinary books. Here, a comprehensive approach aims at describing a skin disorder and its rabbit-specific clinical signs, diagnosis, and rabbit-safe treatment options. The book chapters deal with rabbit skin anatomy, examination of rabbits, and viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic, mechanical, genetic, hormonal, immune and neoplastic diseases. Pen drawings illustrate the different disorders. The collaboration with a veterinarian and a rabbit owner has contributed to the clarity and the quality of the provided information. Hopefully "Skin Diseases of Rabbits" will appeal to the small animal and exotic practitioner, veterinary students, veterinary nurses, and owners, and become a helpful addition to their handling and treating rabbits.

Fungus Link 1 Details In this book, you will read practical information about what fungal illness is, how common a health problem it is, how to recognize it by its symptoms, and how to eradicate it from the body. The testimonials presented give strong support to the seriousness and frequency of fungal illness as a human health problem. I, too, have seen in my own practice fungi representing the primary underlying cause of diverse health conditions including chronic fatigue syndrome, crippling arthritis, severe intestinal disorders, chronic allergies, chronic respiratory illness, ??ßbrain fog" syndrome, depression, and chronic skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis, pruritic dermatitis). The sections written by other health professionals prove that fungal illness is being recognized by more and more doctors for its serious impact on human health. -Wm Lee Cowden, M.D. Chapter 1

What is Methylprednisolone? Methylprednisolone is a medication used to treat certain allergies, skin conditions, and arthritis. It can also be used to suppress the immune system. Who is it for? Methylprednisolone is for dogs, cats, and horses. What are the benefits? Methylprednisolone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication in oral form Used to treat diseases associated with inflammation including certain allergies, skin conditions, and types of arthritis Can also be used to suppress the immune system It is quick-acting and has a longer period of activity than prednisone or prednisolone Methylprednisolone is a synthetic corticosteroid used in the treatment of many different conditions, including autoimmune diseases such as lupus and some hemolytic anemias. It is also used to treat asthma and certain skin diseases in cats. How does Methylprednisolone work? Methylprednisolone has an effect on virtually every organ system in the body. Methylprednisolone is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of substances that trigger allergic and inflammatory actions. Methylprednisolone is used to modify the body's immune response. At lower doses it helps to reduce inflammation by decreasing the activity of certain cells and chemicals produced by the body that cause inflammation. At higher doses, it can suppress the immune system by decreasing the number of cells necessary for a proper immune response. Is there a generic equivalent available? Methylprednisolone is the common drug name and there are multiple generic equivalents available. How is it given? Methylprednisolone is an oral tablet, given by mouth. It may be given with food to avoid stomach upset. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulties giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. Dosage depends on the product used. Your veterinarian may recommend starting at a higher dose and then reducing the dose every few days to a week. If on long-term therapy, do not discontinue the drug abruptly. The dose needs to be tapered off over several days to weeks to allow the body to start making its own cortisol again. This medication should only be given to the pet for which it was prescribed. What results can I expect? When used to treat inflammatory conditions, such as certain skin diseases, the success rate is usually good and improvements can be seen in several days. If the methylprednisolone is stopped, signs of the disease may reappear. Autoimmune diseases are more difficult to treat and the success rate will depend on the type and severity of the condition. What form(s) does it come in? Methylprednisolone comes in an oral tablet form. Please click on "More Information" for possible drug and food interactions with this medication.
