We have all heard time and time again how easy it is to become a victim of identity theft and how difficult it is to get out of the mess that those thieves create. We have also heard that are a few simple things you can do that decrease the likelyhood that you will become a victim. One of the things you can do is take a serious look at the Royal MD100 Shredder.

The MD100 can be used to shred papers that can find their way into thieves hands, such as bank statements, financial statements and credit card offers (Always shred these offers as a thief can fill in the info and simply change the mailing address and, walla, they have your card). Does this make it any different than any other shredder? No, but the MD100 can do something that many other shredders cannot do.

The MD100 can also shred CD/DVD's (I have another epinion mentioning how silly I think this is) in less than five seconds. It will shred a floppy disc and this includes the metal pieces that are included in the disc. But the thing that I find to be most useful is that the MD100 can shred your ATM and credit/debit cards.

Think of this for a moment. We are always told to cut these cards up when they expire, but so what. In this day and age you need to cut them up and make sure that they go into different trash bags and for different pick up days in order to be 100% sure that the numbers will not be stolen. No longer do you have to do this. The MD100 will shred these cards to a size that is not recognizable and you no longer have to worry about the numbers falling into the wrong hands.

One small complaint that I have with the MD100 is that in order to shred a single piece of paper you have to fold it so that it will be thick enough to get shredded. This is not a big deal and can be solved by shredding a couple of sheets at the same time in order to increase the thickness.

The machine is easy to use and contains on/off and automatic buttons. The auto button means the system is always on and will shred as soon as something is placed in the shredding area. As with any shredder, t=you need to be careful and keep it away from children. Though it would be difficult to get a finger into a difficult position, it can happen and does happen from time to time. Perhaps more worrisome is that the child could get something caught in the shredder and end up with a draw string pulled to tightly around their neck.

I am rambling. None of these reasons are reason enough to not make the MD100 your shredder. If you own a shredder already, you may consider upgrading. If you do not own one, you should get one and you might as well spend an extra few dollars to get one that will shred virtually anything you want shredded. Shedders last for a long time so the extra money will be well spent on a good product.
