I had spent a lot of time researching espresso machines before making the leap. The Silvia is the first espresso machine that I have purchased and glad that I did. I have had it for about 3.5 years and it has produced consistantly great espresso and has been trouble free.
I believe the unit weighs 30+ lbs. The construction is solid and heavy duty. It should be touted as a commercially constructed home espresso machine. We are from the Pacific NW and go through about 2 lbs of coffee each week (we live for coffee). The Silvia has been producing wonderful espresso drinks and consistantly impresses the novice to the elite espresso aficionado. Also, with the current kitchen trend going with stainless steel appliances, the Silvia blends in nicely. You can't go wrong with this machine. A definite top espresso producer!
