This shredder SUCKS.

Author's Rating: Rating: 1/5 stars

Pros: Seems like it has all the right features for a mid-duty home shredder.

Cons: WON'T TURN ON. WE BOUGHT TWO MODELS AND NEITHER WORKED OUT OF THE BOX.

The Bottom Line:
Don't buy this model.

Yesterday, after a lengthy in-store examination of display models (and comparison shopping at Target and Best Buy), we decided this one sounded perfect. We got it home and it would not turn on. Darn it, we noticed the box looked re-taped like perhaps it was used and returned, and also it had some shredded paper in it when we opened it. Today we exchanged it and brought a new one of the same model home. IT WOULD NOT WORK EITHER!

After some finagling with the removable basket (which we had originally thought to be a great feature), we realized we could get the green Power light to come on if the basket was left about 2 cm open and cocked a little to the left. Unacceptable. It should go in flush like it is designed to do, and it seems the "safety" feature that is built it to sense when the basket it out of place is something that breaks or malfunctions easily on this model.

It doesn't help that Office Depot's in-store customer service was way less than pleasant, all three trips. On the final trip, they tried to force us to take our refund on a store gift card. We refused, because we're not too interested in shopping at Office Depot anymore after this. Finally a manager was called and he reluctantly gave a refund on our credit card.
