Author's Review
I bought this camera about 3 years ago and have never regretted it. From the time I got it out of the box until now, I have never had a single problem with it. It takes quality images and has many user friendly features including a wonderful macro. I decided I wanted to be a photographer while using this camera. Although compared to it's big brother, the Canon S3 IS, which I purchased a year and a half later; the shutter speed is kind of slow. I didn't expect much from this camera because at the time I purchased it, shutter speed wasn't one of the better features on ANY digital camera. I was amazed at the quality of the photos for only 4 mega pixels, and was able to get some really great results with little effort. I have since given the camera to my 20 yr. old daughter and she enjoys it very much. It's a perfect first camera for any user, young or old. The menu is simple, yet has many settings for people interested in some more advanced features like white balance and such. It takes pretty decent video clips with nice sound. The body style is big enough to make you feel like you're holding a camera, while not so small you feel like you're holding a credit card. The LCD screen is 1 1/2 inches which is smaller than the newer models, yet still very easy to see. I found that batteries last much longer in this model than many digital cameras.
