Philips Norelco 8250XL
I have had this shaver, a Philips Norelco 8250XL, for well over a year now and have just replaced the three cutters and screens. They were still performing well, but I tend to follow the manufacturer's recommendations. Replacement heads (cutters and screens) are expensive - - however, they are occassionally sold as part of the intial package with the shaver ("free").
Shaver gives an excellent shave and is much quieter than most other types of shavers and former versions of rotary shavers.
Shaver can be cleaned with running water - obviating the need to use a brush and risk damaging the screens. I have not found any need to lubricate the heads.
Charges in a short time and gives in excess of 20 shaves on a charge. In addition, you can give it a quick charge which is good for a single shave with minimal wait.
The stand is nice, but not necessary.
The indicator lights are a bit of overkill and I never notice anything until the low charge indicator illuminates. When that happens, there is still sufficient charge for at least one full shave after the one in progress.
I recently bought a slightly less expensive, 8240 series, for exclusive use in a seasonal residence. Less to carry on the plane, etc.
I have been asked to give my personal experience with these Norelco shavers. Hard to do that, as I have been using them for years as I grew to love them last millenium. Both the 8240 and 8250 give excellent shaves with no irritation. Average shave time, for me, is under three minutes. Pros: Quiet and efficient. Quick charge and long useful charge life.
Cons: Excessive indicator LEDs drive cost up.

Buy this shaver or the less expensive 8240. Either way, you will not be disappointed.
