Pros: Cheap and very sharp Progressive scan DVD player. Quality of picture was great.
Cons: none so far.
The Bottom Line:
Great entry level Progressive scan dvd player. I would give it as a gift.
I bought this player at BJ wholesale for $99.99 as I had just purchased a new HDTV monitor TV (Hitachi 51g500). I connected this player into one component input with my xbox component cables and had my old Sony 360 series player connected to the other with high end monster component cables. I had a friend come over, and we watched a couple scenes of Titan AE, and Lord of the Rings and we both agreed that the first player had a far sharper image (he didn't know which player was progressive scan). When I connected the player with the better Monster component cables I was completely floored with how fantastic the picture was. This player also plays cd's, cdr's, mp3, so it is a great find at this price. I want to thank the two previous people who reviewed this item, as I bought the player based on their review over the Panasonic that was selling for $40 more.
Has both a digital co-ax and optic outputs. My receiver decodes DTS, Dolby Digial and Pro-logic 2, so i didn't have to worry that it only has DTS and Dolby Digital output.
The only small negative that i had, is that the remote is a little more sensitive in that it really needs to be aimed at the player instead of being in the general direction, compared to both my xbox and sony players.
