Impressed with Optio S

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Ultra-compact, stunning picture quality, loaded with features

Cons: small toggle switch easy to activate wrong function

The Bottom Line:
If small size and stealth, with a load of features, is what you want, this is it.

Author's Review
Have had the Optio S for 2 weeks, shooting both indoors and outdoors with various settings. Compared this camera with Minolta Dimage Xi. This camera has more features, is smaller and lighter, and about the same price. Picture quality at best resolution is stunning. Controls easy to use, except getting used to the tiny toggle switch which controls many functions. Easy to activate the wrong function. Some problem autofocusing in low light, but expected with this type of camera. That is where the manual focus is a bonus, not found on the Dimage Xi. Battery life with constant LCD display on is about 2 hours, which is not bad. Travels require spare battery, though - still hard to find. Loaded with features from larger digital cameras - see the technical specs. This is my first digital camera, and I love it. Would recommend it to anyone, even if seeking 8x10s or possibly larger. Right now, the only case available is indeed an Altoids tin! Will be happy to try to answer any questions.
