The 3-megapixel Pentax Optio 33WR is Pentax's first waterproof digital camera. While the Optio 33WR should not be operated underwater, its sealed body can withstand immersion in shallow water. This capability, coupled with the camera's small size, makes the Optio 33WR a perfect companion for the active photographer.

Pentax Optio 33WR camera

Pros: Very rugged. Lives up to water resistant claims. Great pics. easy use
Cons: Ate batteries (I think something is wrong with it)
The Bottom Line:
I strongly recommend this camera especially for wet and rugged conditions.
Just returned from Colorado using my 33WR while climbing 5- fourteeners, shooting pics all the way. Including 2 almost white out conditions on 2 summits. I carried it with the strap around my neck and camera in my parka internal pocket so it was easy to get out and shoot. Very rugged, wet and icy conditions and it has been great. I Love it. I got to play with exposure and macro settings on a more gentle day among the bristlecone pines near South Park, getting some very dramatic results.
( As a side note: It is interesting that a hundred years ago photographers had to put a black cloth over there head and camera to compose and focus their pictures. The same is true today if want to see the video screen on a bright day and you want to do serious composition.)
A couple of complaints. 1. A lens cover or a carrying case would be nice. 2. What is snap mode? (no clue from the instruction book). 3. My camera positively ate AA batteries.I think there may be something wrong with mine. Has any one else had this problem? I tested the batteries my camera said were depleted and they still showed a full charge on my test meter
