Pros: Excellent picture; ease of operation; HDMI input; fast pixel response time
Cons: Cost; no built-in HDTV tuner (requires separate tuner for HDTV)
The Bottom Line:
A little pricey for what I paid, but well worth it in my opinion. EXCELLENT PICTURE!!
I purchased this TV because they were out of stock with the Samsung unit I was considering. I have to admit that I'm glad I purchased the Panny! The picture of this LCD is AWESOME! HDTV is crystal clear, and the pixel response time of 16 ms is an industry leader (very few can match this, none exceed it).
The unit was very easy to setup and easy to configure. There is no calibration unlike LCD and CRT projector systems. Basically you're up and running out of the box.
The TV has great input options: 2 component video inputs, 2 composite video inputs, 1 S-video input, and an HDMI input on the rear panel and one set of each on the front panel. You also get a smartcard slot for displaying photos and such.
One of the most impressive things about this TV is its ability to extend a regular 4:3 image to fit the 16:9 screen. With my previous Hitachi projection TV, I left it in the standard 4:3 mode because it warped the picture so much when filling the 16:9 screen that it made watching TV a pain. The Panny is able to stretch the image with very little distortion. It's almost as if you're watching native 16:9 format.
There is no blurring of images with high-speed action scenes as the 16 ms pixel response time can handle color changes fairly quickly.
I highly recommend this unit for anyone who is looking for an LCD TV. Stay away from plasma TV's as they are unreliable in the long run. LCD's is where it's at, and this is one of the better LCD's that I have seen. I am not regretting my purchase at all!
