Panasonic DMR EH75=BEST electronic component ever!

Pros: Comprehensive, EXCELLENT do-it-all unit
Cons: NONE that I've found
The Bottom Line:
I would highly recommend the purchase of this unit because of the versatility and high quality of dvds. Good luck finding one though-they've been discontinued.
Contrary to some reviewers, I've had absolutely NO problem with this unit. In fact, I bought a second one for my other tv!
The manual is long but not really THAT complicated. If you can read, you can figure it out. If I can do it, so can anyone else. You just have to be patient in reading the material - there is a lot there.
As for the TVGOS system, it works fine on both of my recorders. It may help that I have DirecTV, which it seems to be most compatible with. Even if the TV Guide won't load onto your recorder for whatever reason, you still have the option to set up a manual recording. If you can program a vcr, you can schedule a recording - it's not a biggie, you just have to take a couple of extra steps.
If you're looking for something idiot proof and super easy, then do NOT buy this unit! If you don't have a problem manually scheduling a recording, then you should be okay. In reading prior reviews, I think that some of the concerns are a little nitpicky. Nothing electronic is perfect, but the little glitches are minor and certainly wouldn't stop me from recommending this unit (or buying another one, if I could find one!)
I've uploaded a LOT of content from old vhs tapes and have also recorded lots of tv shows, edited out all the commercials and burned a couple of hundred dvds already. I'm not having any of the problems described by other reviewers. The whole digital tuner thing is a non issue for me because I've got DirecTV - and both of my tvs are over 10 years old, so neither of them are digital tuners - yet I'm not having any problem recording shows off of tv.
These recorders have been discontinued by Panasonic, probably because of the hard drive. I love this recorder - I can hold 35 hours in SP mode on the hard drive, and make customized dvds. No more boxed sets for me, because I record and burn my favorite shows to dvd now. For example, after you edit the commercials out of an hour long show (it takes 5 minutes, once you know what you're doing) you can fit 3 shows on to one (2) hour dvd. I'm also recording and burning football games - this is great!
I use one or both of my units practically every day for recording shows or uploading vhs content. I've had my first unit for about 18 months, and the second one is only 2 months old.
