Optio WP: Broken again
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Compact, light, easy to use
Cons: 2 major failures in about 2 years
I take a lot of photos on sports outings and rely on the photos for maintaining web sites. A few months after purchasing the Optio WP I took it to Moab on a multi-day bike ride. During the trip the Optio WP would freeze on occasion when taking a picture. After some number of minutes the Optio WP would reset. I did manage to get some pictures during the trip. Pentax repaired/replaced the Optio WP at no charge. This spring I was getting ready to go to Mammoth for a week and just before the trip the Optio WP stopped working. It would not turn on. I sent it to Pentax and received back a repair estimate of $120. Before I left on the trip I replaced the Optio WP with a FujiFilm A610 at a cost of $130 including a 512MB XD card. The A610 LCD is larger and the pictures are better too; I think. I told Pentax I would not pay to have the Optio WP fixed. They returned the broken Optio WP to me, and it went right in the trash :(
