Pros: took good pics for the (BRIEF) time it worked
Cons: a fruit fly has a greater life expectancy
Makes a great $300 paperweight! I've had TWO of these cameras and the screen went on both of them after about ten uses. Pentax customer service said it would be fine to take it in surf, which I did. Pentax replaced the first one, refused to replace the second one, even though it was still under warranty, on the basis that there was sand in the camera. I called and left a message w/ customer service & explained that I had not done anything with the camera outside of what's recommended in the manual - I never forgot to lock the camera, never dropped it, and always washed it off with fresh water within an hour of use in the ocean. If you market a camera as waterproof, people are going to take it to places like the beach where there's, umm, SAND. Left numerous messages with the customer service supervisor. He did not return my calls. LOUSY customer service, poorly designed camera. There's obviously a defect with the seal if it still allows sand in even when it's locked. The seal should be completely water/sandproof, otherwise, DON'T MARKET IT AS A WATERPROOF CAMERA.
