Katy Perry is the late 2000s version of the sassy pop-rocker wielding girl power like an Uzi. Blending elements of Alanis Morissette, Britney Spears, and Gwen Stefani, Perry's 2008 debut, ONE OF THE BOYS, bashes metrosexuals ("Ur So Gay"), flaunts lesbian experimentation ("I Kissed a Girl"), and celebrates spontaneous road trips ("Waking Up in Vegas"). Thanks to a cadre of top-shelf producers, including Desmond Child, Dave Stewart, and Glen Ballard (who also produced Morissette), ONE OF THE BOYS glitters like spun cotton candy, but it's Perry's bold, topical songs and in-your-face attitude that help the album pack a punch.

Rough like a Boy, and Dramatized like a Girl
Pros: It has wonderfuul album artwork, and crazy lyrics that anyone will enjoy. Cons: There aren't any really. Some of the songs move to slow I think. Bottom Line: I Expected to Hate It, But I Liked it Instead -- This is *Good* Pop!!
Pros: Half of these songs are very good indeed. Cons: There's way too much mimicry when she should just write from her heart. Bottom Line: She can belch the alphabet, shave her legs and make a good pop record!
Pros: Great, catchy pop music. She's got some great vocals. Love some of the production Cons: Politically incorrect, a couple of songs are forgettable Bottom Line: katy perry is talented and gifted
Pros: Everything in this CD was great. Cons: No cons this time. Bottom Line: All around great!
Pros: It's a joy on the senses to listen to her dark, smooth vocals. Cons: Some of the songs get a little complacent and some lyrics are difficult to understand Read More at Epinions.com Here she comes! The definition of Contradicting! KATY PERRY!
Pros: "Mannequin" and "I'm Still Breathing" ... Cons: Basically, everything else sadly. Bottom Line: Straightforward karaoke?
Pros: An interesting bad record Cons: If you manage to survive it Bottom Line: Katy Perry Is A Train Wreck Worth Listening To
Pros: See Review Cons: See Review Bottom Line: Katy Perry Puts Her Own Personal Style, and Fun Personality, into her award winning CD
Pros: Songs for at least a teen crowd, some adult language, and some iffy ideas. Cons: Great songs, hilarious lyrics, Katy wrote all the songs herself, and it was plain awesome!! Bottom Line: Not Bad, Not Bad At All
Pros: Catchy tunes and easy to figure out lyrics for singing along. Cons: Some songs could be offensive to some groups. Bottom Line: |
