A staid American ambassador (Peck) and his wife are heartbroken when their child is stillborn, but their heartbreak is only beginning when they adopt an orphan. As the boy grows, disaster surrounds him, beginning with the suicide of his nanny, and as the bodies pile up, his horrified father begins to believe that the boy is evil incarnate and must be destroyed. The unique climax paved the way for two popular sequels, "Damien - Omen II" and "Final Conflict." Minimize

The Omen: Richard Donner's 1976 chiller is a hellishly good horror movie

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Good cast; nifty screenplay; verisimilitude makes it believable

Cons: Dated slightly by the 1970s clothes, vehicles and other props. Otherwise none.

Bottom Line:

The Omen works much better than its sequels because the director takes the story and characters seriously.  It is still scary!

Still scary after all these years!

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: A solid and still scary movie. Rightfully stands as a minor classic of its kind.

Cons: Like any movie from the '70s/'80s...the fashions are a little scary too.

Bottom Line:
Well worth revisiting this film. It has held up remarkably well. Read More at Epinions.com

Definitely the better of the two.

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Acting; direction; photography; musical score

Cons: One or two "outdoor" sets are clearly indoor sets, but so what?

Bottom Line:
A classic horror film not to be missed. Read More at Epinions.com

The Greatest Horror Film of All-Time

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Everything

Cons: None unless you don’t like camp

Bottom Line:
For me, horror doesn’t get any better than this. Brilliantly acted, brilliantly directed, well-written characters, and a whole lot of gleefully evil fun. Read More at Epinions.com

Robert Thorn will never learn

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: The characters and story is very well made. The acting is superb.

Cons: This movie isn't made for everyone...

Bottom Line:
The Omen is a very horrifying film. If you enjoy films like "Rosemary's Baby" and "Hellraiser", then watch this film. It is a great horror flick. Read More at Epinions.com
