Great for the price

Pros: pictures are high quality/look beautiful

Cons: battery life, menu learning curve (not plug and play)

The Bottom Line:
High quality pictures and offers a lot of features. But, more complicated than point and shoot, so plan on taking some time to learn how to use it.

Author's Review
I received this camera as a Christmas gift. I understand it was around $200 at Costco. It's my first digital camera, and I didn't make any specifications about what type I wanted for Christmas, so this particular model was as much a surprise as any other.

First Impressions:
The sliding lens cover feels cheap to me--like it's gonna break early.
There are a lot of menu options that are not intuitive to use.
Regular AA batteries last for about 10 pictures. AAAHH!!
I like the wide variety of pixel size choices for quality vs. number of photos to get on the card.
Why didn't this camera come with a case and an AC adapter?
I love the quicktime movie feature.
The pictures are crystal clear and brilliant.

Recommendations:
If you don't already have one, get a charger and rechargeable batteries. You will save millions of dollars.
Get a bigger (at least 64MB) XD card so that you can take quicktime movies and have plenty of room for pictures.
Don't lose the manual. There are a lot of features and icons that look like hieroglyphs without the manual.
Take some time to work with the menu. I'm tech savvy, and yet, still had to deal with a learning curve here.
