If you want a telephoto lens, this camera is a great choice.
This is my first digital camera. I chose this model because of the telephoto lens. My daughter is the drum major for her high school band and I wanted to be able to zoom in on her during football game half-time shows and band competitions. This past weekend, the band director asked that a parent video a competition. In order to get a video of the entire field and capture the whole band doing the show, you need to sit as high up in the football stands as possible. Therefore, I was sitting right under the press box on some pretty large high school stands. At awards time, the drum majors stood at mid-field. I was able to zoom in on my daughter with my C750 still camera and get perfectly clear close-up pictures from where I was sitting. However, as noted in other reviews, you absolutely must have the camera on a tripod to prevent blurred pictures using the telephoto lens at this distance. I bought a Velbon Maxi 343E tripod from JandR.com (they matched a lower price I found elsewhere on the net). This tripod also worked with my Panasonic VHS-C camcorder. It is super-easy to transfer photos from the camera to my computer. I have mostly used the camera on Auto, but look forward to exploring the many photo options. I debated a long time about buying this camera, because it was a big expense for me. I am happy that I bought it.
