2005 Nissan AltimaThis third-generation Nissan Altima was launched in 2002 as an exciting alternative to the otherwise ordinary mid-size sedan segment. And it remains the cure for the common car. Now with a new interior, the 2005 Nissan Altima has addressed our biggest complaint with this car.

Pros: 175HP, style, roomy in front and back. Layout of controls
Cons: Radio lights/ clock dim and hard to read in daytime
The Bottom Line:
Outstanding value for car. Highly recommended.
Researched all the reviews and magazines for a car for my wife. We took home the Toyota Camry XLE for 2 days and because they didn't have the color we wanted (red) they had it sent from the factory. It was a 2 week wait. In the meantime we took home a Nissan Altima 2.5S Red color. It took us hours to decide upon which one to buy. I cannot fault either car. Both had several features that the other car did not. Since we leased it our decision was based upon: (a) Nissan had 175 horse vice Camry 160hp (b) Nissan has 61% residual vice Camry 59.5%. (c) Nissan had the parking brake on the console vice the floor. Gives more leg room. (d) Nissan had telescopic steering wheel. (e) Nissan was immediately available and Camry was not. I am sure we would have been happy with the Camry because of the reputation of this auto and some of the extra features it had. If you are interested in this type of sedan make sure you drive both. One thing I learned. If you're going to buy a 20-25K vehicle, take it home for a day or two. It is difficult to drive a car for 15 minutes and make a good decision about its pros and cons. Wife is very happy with it. She is getting 26.6 mpg in the city. Yes, the Camry may get more. I paid $200.00 over invoice.
