The 2000 Pathfinder returns virtually unchanged following its redesign in mid 1999. The Pathfinder continues to be available in three trim levels: XE, SE, and LE. Safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, dual air bags, steel side door guards, and child safety rear door locks. The Pathfinder is equipped with a 170-hp V6 engine and can tow up to 5000 pounds. All Pathfinders include deep tinted windows, alloy wheels, and a roof rack. The SE models upgrades with power windows and locks, cruise control, vehicle security system, and remote keyless entry. LE models add a Bose stereo system, power antenna, automatic climate control, wood appliques, and an integrated HomeLink transmitter.

The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who does not require a 3rd row of seats.
I bought a 2001 Pathfinder SE 3.5 coming off lease in August, 2004. In the year and a half since I've had it, I've driven 20k+ miles in all kinds of weather. I live in New England, and we've had two really good winters (by that, I mean beaucoup snow), and tons of rain.
Since then, the only problems I've had is that the power socket (formerly lighter) in the front console (under the radio) does not work. Should have checked it when I bought it. This is annoying, but it's not a problem because I can charge my cell phone and IPod using the socket that's in the console between the driver and passenger seats, or in the socket in the cargo area.
The other issue I've had is that one of the belts squeals when it's damp/wet outside. Need to get that fixed. Not a quality thing, has more to do with maint.
Since I bought it, other than the above mentioned issues, I've had no problems with my Pathfinder. It fits my family fine (Two adults, two kids), along with any gear we need for whatever we're doing...
I haven't had a really powerful car since highschool, so I have no real basis for comparison, but this thing has more than enough to pass going uphill.
This is my first SUV, and for my purposes, it excels. I don't go offroad very often, but when I have, it's performed admirably.
