The 2000 Pathfinder returns virtually unchanged following its redesign in mid 1999. The Pathfinder continues to be available in three trim levels: XE, SE, and LE. Safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, dual air bags, steel side door guards, and child safety rear door locks. The Pathfinder is equipped with a 170-hp V6 engine and can tow up to 5000 pounds. All Pathfinders include deep tinted windows, alloy wheels, and a roof rack. The SE models upgrades with power windows and locks, cruise control, vehicle security system, and remote keyless entry. LE models add a Bose stereo system, power antenna, automatic climate control, wood appliques, and an integrated HomeLink transmitter.

The Bottom Line:
If you can find a good used 2001 Pathfinder, pick it above anything else in its class.
Nissan hit a home run with this Pathfinder. I owned the LE that came with everything but the entertainment center. I could drive all day and not get uncomfortable. The nav system was superb with its "birds eye" view. The stereo sounded great and all the controls were intuitive and easy to reach.
It had great power to accelerate or tow whatever you want. The driver has a high seating position and the front door windows are cut low so you can observe what is around you. Lots of storage places.
The selectable 4 wheel drive system accommodates all occasions. Economy is good for a powerful SUV. 18 to 20 MPG on the road. I felt very good and safe behind the wheel.
My favorite car met its end on an icy Interstate when it was pinched by 3 sliding semi's. The Pathfinder maintained its passengers in safety as it was assaulted from the front, rear and driver's side. My passenger and I walked away although the car was done for. The peace of mind that comes with driving such a stout vehicle is priceless.
At about 40K miles I replaced the factory original tires with Goodyear Fortera HL's that made the car corner better and rode more quietly.
The one thing that was not optimal was the electric mirror adjusters. You have to reach around the steering wheel to get to it which is a slight hassle but a small problem compared to the other really great things about the car.
I highly recommend the Pathfinder. In 2001 it was declared Four Wheeler magazine's four-wheeler of the year. I would buy a new one to replace my 2001 but I find the new style ugly.
