The Coolpix SQ is Nikon's newest compact, lightweight digital still camera with a high resolution imager and a swiveling Nikkor 3x zoom lens. It features an entirely new body design, unlike anything ever seen before in the Coolpix family. The Coolpix SQ is truly "pocket size" and highly durable thanks to an all-metal body. It's an easy-to-use mid- range model with superior image quality that will satisfy the needs of beginners to advanced amateurs.

Pros: Small, lightweight, good picture quality.
Cons: Price, detached lens cap, battery life.
The Bottom Line:
If you have the money and are looking for something small and stylish that will attract a lot of attention and take great pictures, then go for it.
This is my second digital camera, and I have been enjoying it very much. I read the other review here about the pictures being grainy and noisy. I have not experienced poor picture quality with this camera. In fact, my friend has a Nikon Coolpix 3100 camera, and we took pictures and compared the two. The colors were slightly different, but I would say that the picture quality was identical.
As for the battery life, I would definitely go for a second battery if you plan on doing more than casual picture taking. One other poor design feature on this camera is the lens cap, which is held to the camera by a flexible cord that simply gets in the way of everything.
The SQ's LCD screen is one of the best I've seen on a digital camera, easily visible, even in direct sunlight. I am using a Lexar 24x Flash card, and the pictures take about a full second to write to the memory card.
Overall, I think this is a good little camera that takes great pictures, and still fits nicely into your pocket.
