The Coolpix SQ is Nikon's newest compact, lightweight digital still camera with a high resolution imager and a swiveling Nikkor 3x zoom lens. It features an entirely new body design, unlike anything ever seen before in the Coolpix family. The Coolpix SQ is truly "pocket size" and highly durable thanks to an all-metal body. It's an easy-to-use mid- range model with superior image quality that will satisfy the needs of beginners to advanced amateurs. Minimize

At least I can deduct it as a business expense

Pros: Swivel lens, Compact, Bright LCD

Cons: Terribly grainy pictures, Small LCD, No optical viewfinder

The Bottom Line:
If you need the swivel lens and you can deal with less than optimal image quality, then you might like the SQ. Otherwise, go get a PowerShot.

Accurate color reproduction, but disastrous image quality. Performs pretty well in extremely bright light, but the slightest shadow turns the picture grainy. You can forget about taking low light/indoor shots. If you thought the name "Nikon" is synonymous with quality, guess what? It doesn't anymore, at least in digital cameras. I've been very happy with the Coolpix 950 (bought 2, in fact), so this $450 mistake came as quite a shock.

On the positive side, I find the swivel lens nearly indispensable. The shutter lag is much improved over the 950. Overall a much speedier camera, but there are better values out there (with better quality).
