Pros: Easy to use, producing great photos. Very high quality build. Terrific lens.
Cons: So good, it would make the next camera I buy, be another Nikon.

I love this camera, it has the feel of quality and produces great pictures from me, a very amateur photographer. I absolutely love and recommend this camera.
I bought my Nikon Coolpix 8700 digital camera, while on holidays in Hawaii. The camera was easy to use and I was able to take some great photos strait away.The camera enabled me to cap off a fantastic holiday with lasting, colourful and vibrant photos. I bought this, my first Nikon, because during my 26 years interest in photography, Nikon, to me, has one of the highest reputations among the camera producers. I have not been disappointed, my Nikon takes me from being, a pretty basic amateur photographer, into a photographer, who now can produce photos that have drawn admiration from all whom I have shown. The cameras controls are strait forward (I just use the default automatic settings). Once I complete taking the photos, it is easy to connect the camera by the supplied transfer cable, to my computer and download the pictures using, the also supplied, NikonView software. Once the photos are on the computer, I can then manipulate them with my third party software. The camera lens has a terrific 8X auto focus zoom. Because the camera is an 8 megapixel, the photos it produces are just so crisp and clear, I am still amazed at how great they are. The camera can also shoot in video mode, with sound. I haven't used this function, yet. Overall, there is nothing I dislike about this camera, I think it is one of my best buys. I bore my wife, by continually telling her, how great the camera
