Best overall Prosumer Digital Camera!

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Excellent photo quality and lots of great features!

Cons: You MUST read the manual and play with the camera settings!

The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend this because it is solid NIKON quality and it takes all the photos without a hitch.

I have had this camera about a month and really love it! Sure, a lot of people bash it or don't think it is the best, but I think a lot of them have not really tried everything on this camera. In order to get the most from this camera, you really have to read the manual and then take about 100 photos with various settings. As a point and shoot, this camera will perform well. If you start to get into the manual settings, this camera will really shine for you! It takes awesome photos! I recommend an external flash with a bounce head (tilting - I use a Quantary from Ritz Camera that works perfect), the MB-E5700 external battery attachment (this gives the camera a true SLR feel and weight and days of non-stop use), and some higher capacity compact flash cards.

I was torn between this and spending $3000 for a Nikon D100 and a single lens (maybe 2 if I was lucky). The 5700 was a better choice. Given all of the capabilities and all the options available on the camera, this is certainly more cost effective. Please feel free to email me with questions (jonleeusa@yahoo.com)
