Pros: It offers extensive features and creative capabilities in a compact body that produces great pictures.
Cons: The camera is slow focusing and has a fast battery drain.

The camera is worth the price given the almost endless variety of features, great optics, and picture quality.
I had the camera ten days when the automatic focus and the pop up flash quit working. Fortunately TriState Camera and Video exchanged the 5700 without question. Prior to the problems occurring, I found the camera surprisingly responsive and easy to use. The compact zoom (35-280) capability is amazing and light weight, a well built, mostly metal body that seems rugged to use. Filters and external items attach nicely and seem to work easily. I was surprised at the usefulness of the LED screen which rotates yet folds to hide or use flat on the camera back. I do not typically like LED screens. I am an old SLR user and I like the lens viewer but for special situations, I actually found the LED support helpful in framing shots particularly in macro mode.
Don't plan on shooting many action sports events due to a problem focusing in low light and slow overall focusing capability.
