NHL Hitz offers an extreme interpretation of ice hockey in terms of both gameplay and presentation. Just as Midway's popular NFL Blitz games caricature professional football with exaggerated personalities and arcade-style gameplay, NHL Hitz presents professional league hockey with an emphasis on fast action and amazing plays over a strict interpretation of the rules or an overly sophisticated interface.

Features such as fantasy arenas, hidden and "unlockable" players and teams, and the signature "on fire" mode help define the attitude of this game. The 3D modeled crowd joins in the action too, pounding the glass or booing bad plays and tossing hats to honor three-goal scorers. Running commentary, a variety of skill-based mini-games, and a relatively deep in-game fighting system round out this addition to the Midway Sports Asylum line. Up to four players can compete together in this GameCube release of NHL Hitz. Minimize

NHL Hitz: It's not like real hockey, but it's fun
Pros: Arcadey and not very realistic hockey
Cons: Fun features that give the game depth.
It's fun to play if realism isn't really your bag. It's not a simulation of actual NHL hockey, it's an arcade game made to be fun and high scoring. Read More at Epinions.com

Cons: Can't shorten quarter length, players are pretty similar.
Who would have thought this would be my most played Cube title? Certainly not me, try it! Read More at Epinions.com

Not really hockey, but still fun
Pros: Fast paced, lots of hits, great music, custom team
Cons: The AI "cheats" with no restraint, it's not really hockey
This game is worth $50, but it won't be a blockbuster. Don't look to Hitz to replace NHL 2001. Read More at Epinions.com
