Upgraded from the SB4100

Pros: Dramatic improvement over original equipment cable modems... simple to install, small profile.
Cons: I had a hard time finding a local retailer with any in stock..
I recently checked a few broadband speed test sites to see what speed others were getting out of their Comcast connection in my zip code.. they were mostly over 6mbps... smokin fast.. and I have been stuck at 3.5mbps and wondering why. I have been running with the Motorola SB4100 since Comcast (was AT&T then) started service in our area a bit over 5 years ago.. so I concluded that it was time to upgrade the modem. I read much about the SB5120 and how it could improve one's speed with "plug and play" simplicity.. so I purchased one.. Best 80 bucks I've spent in a while. I have heavy broadband use needs.. I'm running 5 computers thru a Dlink router plus a hub with two teenagers jammin constantly on Counter Strike plus two VOIP phone systems.. all running thru one cable connection (and my new SB5120). The new modem sent my speed straight up to 7.5mbps, my VOIP voice quality improved dramatically, the FPS times on my kids' gaming went way up and their "lag" issues went away. I'm totally impressed. I felt bad chucking the SB4100, but the SB5120 rocks as advertised.
