Pros: 2+x faster then my old modem. Much better troubleshooting and diagnostic information. Easy setup.
Cons: Package not great for wall mounting.
I had used an RCA Cablemodem with Comcast service for several years. Comcast recently upgraded their service in the Seattle area to 6 megabit, so I was curious to find my speed. I tried DSL reports several times and followed instructions for improving my speed but the best I got was 2.6 megabit. I had also had all to frequent lost connections and in the troubleshooting process, I decided to try a new cablemodem. This one was relatively inexpensive and was highly regarded in other reviews. After a phone call to Comcast to enable the new modem (they'll need the modem's MAC address) I was up and running. I was delighted to see that my download speed had improved to 5.8+ megabits ! Nothing else changed.
