Glad I bought it

Pros: Solidly built, great price, 6 mega pixels
Cons: NONE
The Bottom Line:
Buy it. I have recommended this camera to perfect strangers in the supermarket.
My old camera was a Ricoh KR-5 35 mm semi-automatic--that means that the light meter was built into the camera. It was a great, and well-respected camera, but the cost of film is off-the-hook.
Being new to digital photography, I just started carrying my new camera everywhere with me. I couldn't do that before! My old camera was formidable in size. I just figured that the time would come that I would be so inspired by something that I would fumble through the settings until I got what I wanted. And I was right.
However, when I first researched this camera, people on epinions panned it for silly reasons. They didn't like the way the camera turned on; you have to slide a door open for the lens to pop out. People with big mits had a hard time with this. I have not found this to be a problem whatsoever even though I am 51 and the arthritis has started to creep in.
Also, I have just read a review where someone panned the camera because of its lack of a case. Let the spark jump the gap! The lens cover slides over the retracted lens making this camera into a solid box; the camera is its own case! So there is less fumble with in the end; I carry my Dimage G600 in my fanny pack. (For you British readers-- fanny pack is a purse worn about the waist--so stop snickering.)
This camera will accommodate a wide range of lighting conditions. It is better protected than a giant sea tortoise. And it will not only please the point-and shoot crowd, but it will be cherished by the seasoned art photographer. (Hint, if your family album contains pictures of close-ups of insects, flowers, and landscapes that explore the color splendor of spirogyra, this means you.)
