Pros: Good range...nice feel..controls are easy to understand..Comes with a 3 year warranty
Cons: Doesn't give 8-10 miles range..expect 4-6
The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend the g300..The range is not as advertised but still better than other radios I've tried..Comes with a 3 year warranty which aint bad
I recently bought a pair of the g300 radios mostly to be used for the upcoming hunting season. I, of course, had to try them out first so I dragged my not so willing wife to go with me and try out the range..She stood on the back deck of our home as I drove around and reported back to her from various locales..The results were better than I expected, however, I did not get anywhere near the advertised 8 mile distance that first drew my attention to these radios..Actually I didn't really expect to get the advertised range, however, I did manage to get around 4-6 miles distance with fair clarity...Why these radio manufacturers..(all of them), insist on exaggerating the range of frs/gmrs radios is beyond me, and how they can get away with it is a mystery, however, the midland g300 does seem to have far more power than other 2 ways I have owned..The vibrating mode will be good when I do go hunting and the feel of the radio is rather nice..(solid)..The controls are easy to use and it is supposed to be water resistant, which I am not going to try out!!..The g300 does come with a 3 year manufacture warranty which is excellent, so maybe I will tempt fate and throw one in a creek or stream for a short period of time!..All things considered, I would highly recommend the midland g300 to anyone who wants or needs a good powerful little radio..I did see them advertised in Staples for 59.95 which is 10 dollars cheaper than I paid two weeks ago..Maybe I will throw one in the shower and return them for 2 new ones today....
