Combat Flight Simulator 3 includes a wide variety of aircraft. You can fly in multi-position bombers and switch between pilot, gunner, or bombardier positions, or choose modern aircraft that barely made it into action. Set in the European background, your current mission is dynamically generated based on the outcome of previous missions. As you fly to and from your targets and mission areas, the campaign world triggers events, spawns aircraft, and generates flak in response to the player's presence. Combat Flight Simulator 3 includes a graphics engine for fast action, and detailed low-altitude visuals and effects. Pros: It is cheaper than Microsoft Flight Sim. Has plenty of aircraft to try.
Cons: The graphics are horrible. The flight dynamics are horrible.
The Bottom Line:
Do not purchase Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator Battle for Europe. It is clear that they just rushed this into production without caring about the quality.
I had a horrible time with this game. It is that simple. I have been a Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 addict for about 2 years now. I have purchased many add ons for FS9 I can't say enough great things about it. So after seeing some adds for it, I thought it only correct that the Combat Flight Simulator Battle for Europe would be just as great. I was wrong. The graphics are horrible. The flight dynamics are wrong. You do not have control of many of the normal buttons. I searched for a long time to get this game, and now am begging MS to take it back. I brought it home, installed it, played it, and then un-install ed it. I will say that it has tons of planes that you can fly. They just are not that fun to fly. The maps are completely unreadable. The packaging is great, but very misleading. I would like Microsoft to put as much energy into Combat Flight Sim Battle for Europe as they did Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. I am nothing but disgusted with this product. The long and short is, the game has great potential, great company, but horrible, almost seems rushed, results.
