The 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class builds on the proportions and philosophies of todays model, refining them in a completely redesigned car that takes its styling cues from modern concept and production vehicles wearing the three-pointed star. When the 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 debuts, it will contain a rack-and-pinion steering system that replaces the old recirculating-ball unit for more responsiveness. Also standard is a larger and more effective braking system, and a new multi-link four-wheel-independent suspension with available sport tuning. Topping the range is the new 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG, a road-ripping sports car with a monster 360-horsepower 5.4-liter V8 engine that blasts the car from a standstill to 60 mph in about 4.8 seconds. It comes standard with the seven-speed automatic, steering wheel shift buttons and an AMG SpeedShift manual driving program. Minimize

Pros: Head turner, quick, great 7 speed auto, great drop top feature

Cons: Small interior storage with CD changer. Put up top to load beer in trunk!

In my 40 years of driving, I always tried to follow the rule, never buy the first year intro of a new car. All three that I bought had problems. The newest one was the beautiful 350. I've haven't even received my license plates yet and it's been at the dealer for 3 full days! A malfunction came up on it's display and the dealer had never seen that one before! They had to reprogram the computers using the MB techs from headquarters. After they did that, a feature , which I loved, where the seat can be programed to go fully back when exiting the car, was gone! Turns out the new program doesn't have it any longer! Too many problems! And the new 350 doesn't offer it any longer!Should have kept my Lexus GS 400! And the gas mileage SUCKS! Average so far 16mpg! For a 6! My GS400 got better mileage with the same type driving.
