The 2003 M-Class is available in four models: ML320, ML350, ML500 and ML55 AMG. A 215-horsepower V-6 engine powers the ML320, while the ML500 V-8 engine has a power output of 288-horsepower. The AMG high performance V-8 engine delivers 324-horsepower. The ML350 has been added mid-year and is powered by a 3.7L V-6 producing 232 horsepower. The optional Sport Package includes 17-inch EVO II wheels with 275/55R17 tires, fender flares, side cladding, fog lamps, and chrome exhaust tips. Pros: Performance, Handling, Looks, Comfort, Image, Economy, Load space - Basically everything!
Cons: None whatsoever.
The Bottom Line:
I honestly believe this this to be a great car - A brilliant match between comfort, performance and economy.
Excellent handling, power and performance.
I bought the ML270 because I wanted a large car with a good safety record. I wasn't expecting much in terms of performance but was very pleasently surprised.
Although the official 0-60mph time is 11.6 seconds, I must admit, the acceleration feels much faster than this. These cars also chip extremely well and superchips claim to add an extra 30-35 hp to the power output.
The handling took some getting use to having previously owned and BMW 3 series. After a weeks driving however, I could appreciate the weight distribution of the ML and find it to handle extremely well for a car of it's size, weight and height.
The ML is a great looking car too, it deffinately turns heads.
The car has a lot of interior space and the driving position is very well designed. Long drives no longer feel tiring.
Economy is excellent for a car of this size and weight. the car weighs over 2.5 tonnes yet gives over 30mpg (combined) - the diesel engine in these cars is brilliant.
I personally went for the family and lux pack options on my car. These help the car to hold it's price over a period of time.
A great car, I was in no way dissapointed!
